Always, always, ALWAYS listen to your mother…

Back in the 80’s, when I was a glorious 19/20-year-old college dropout/runway model, Mommi kept one of my portfolio pics on her desk at work.  She frequently asked me to 1017565_10202388442533742_6466169434032192399_nvisit for lunch.  It seems there was this guy in marketing who kept asking her for an introduction.  She said he was tall and kinda cute and had a great personality. Of course, I always refused, even to the point of saying there’s no way in HELL I’d ever date a guy from marketing.  I mean why?  I was 19 and hot, and since he was at the GM office in Naperville and asking old ladies to hook him up, what could I possibly want with the likes of him.
Well…some months later, Mommi is in front of the TV screaming for me to come to look. When I asked why she didn’t tell me who it was, her response:  “I did tell you his name was Mike!  I just didn’t remember his last name.”  He was at GM working out the details of his commercials for the Chicagoland Chevy Dealers Association.
So…what did I learn? And do you think I really learned it? Of course not! I still never listened to my mother.
